Summary Notes

Attending: Vicki Croft, Rhonda Gaylord, Mary Gilles (Co-Chair), Daryl Herbison, Lauren McNiece, Ingrid Mifflin, Jill Palmer, Barb Paulson, Marilyn Von Seggern (Co-Chair), Kay Vyhnanek, Sharon Walbridge (Recorder), John Webb, Leslie Wykoff (by phone), and Christy Zlatos.
Absent: Janet Chisman.

Record Keeping
It was agreed that meeting notes need to identify issues, consensus, decisions and directions. The Committee decided not to prepare a separate set of minutes for wider distribution beyond the Committee but rather to share minutes. That will be done by making a paper copy available for posting / routing in each library unit. A brief highlight report will be prepared for the Web Page after each Planning Committee meeting.
Trust
Discussion of this topic, even within the Committee, is difficult as people do not want to hurt other's feelings. But issues do exist and must be acknowledged. The following are a sample of such issues:

administrators / managers and staff / faculty issues
faculty and staff issues
Holland Library and non-Holland Library issues
Pullman and ECLS issues
The Planning Committee process is trust building at its foundation. We need to keep discussing the topic as needed and deal with breaches if they occur.
Values Workshops
Workshops will be held on March 7, 8, and 11 with library personnel as group leaders and background people. A compilation of values will be posted after the sessions.
Where do we go from here ...
The Committee will work on a values statement after the workshops, then mission and vision statements. While such statements already exist for the WSU Libraries, we should not necessarily accept them as they are.

Next meeting
The Planning Committee will meet on Wednesday, March 13, 1996 at 8:30 AM in the Holland WHETS room.
