Attending: Janet Chisman, Vicki Croft, Rhonda Gaylord, Mary Gilles (Co-Chair), Daryl Herbison, Lauren McNiece, Jill Palmer, Barbara Paulson, Marilyn Von Seggern (Co-Chair), Kay Vyhnanek, Sharon Walbridge (Recorder), Leslie Wykoff (via WHETS), and Christy Zlatos.
Absent: Ingrid Mifflin and John Webb.

Check-in

It was reiterated that this Planning Committee would not review materials produced by previous WSU Library organization committees. This decision was made early in the Committee's efforts
Do we know enough about various units to make recommendations or decisions regarding them? Two areas specifically mentioned were Documents and Serials.
Meeting minutes
Minutes of the August 21 meeting were approved as distributed.
How to Proceed

How can we learn more about those units where information seems to be lacking? It was noted that representation on the Planning Committee was wide enough that someone may know about the units in question. If not, then opportunities may need to be created to learn from the unit(s) in question.
What do we take to a Town Meeting, when and how? Are we trying to come up with one model or several? If more than one, how many? Committee members generally seemed to believe that we need to see how the discussion of organization models went before we could make those decisions. We need to see if we have core agreement sufficient to warrant one model with several variations. It was noted that the committee structure is as important as the organization structure. Decision-making and communication must be part of the Committee's recommendations.
Small Group Reports and Discussion
Blue and yellow groups presented their new models and there was much discussion. The green group will present their model next week and other models will be discussed.

Next meeting
The Planning Committee will meet next on Wednesday, September 11 at 8:30am in the New Library WHETS room.
The tentative agenda will include check-in, approval of meeting minutes, and more discussion of organization models.
